Prince Amukamara's draft diary, Part 3

Nebraska CB Prince Amukamara is talking to Pro Football Weekly's Andrew Struckmeyer for a weekly diary leading up to the draft. In his third entry, he hits on his Combine experience, the Combine interview process and what he is doing to get ready for his pro day.

On the Combine experience:

The Combine was an unbelievable experience. It was definitely all worth it. It's just like a stage you've been dreaming to perform on since you were a little kid. It's just a huge relief that's it over now. It's a good experience to go through, so that you get to see all the GMs, all the teams, talk to them, and you get to see all the best players in the nation that got invited to it. But I think the worst part of it was losing sleep. I probably averaged about four to five hours of sleep each night, and I'm not used to that.

On his Combine performance:

I was real happy with my position drills and my ball skills, I didn't drop one ball there so I was very happy about that. I was happy with the 40-time (4.43 seconds) too, but I thought I could have done faster.

On players he was impressed with at the Combine:

(Miami CB) Brandon Harris and (Florida S) Ahmad Black stood out to me in my defensive back group. They seemed very fluid in their position drills and their backpedal. I was just taking tips from them. I'm still young in playing corner, so I'm just learning as much as I can.

On the interview process:

I wasn't shocked by all of the media attention, but I think what surprised me most was the team interviews. Some interviews with the teams were laid back and some of them were pretty intense, but I was prepared well for it. The weirdest question was they asked me if I had a girlfriend, and I told them I had never had a girlfriend before, and they said, 'So do you have a boyfriend?' That was pretty funny. I said, 'No, I love women.'

On his training schedule leading up to his pro day on March 10:

I took off last week from workouts, but I did some stuff to get my body loose, get my body moving again. I'm back in Nebraska now and our pro day is this Thursday, so I've just been doing some footwork here, trying to get ready for DB drills. I feel like I still need to work on my technique a little more, and that's what I'm doing.
