Florida's Donovan insists experience is overrated

When it's close, there's likely to be no victory cigar for Kentucky's freshman-oriented basketball team.

By contrast, Florida, one of the Southeastern Conference's most experienced teams, has won seven of 10 games decided by six or fewer points this season.

Which means . . . nothing going into Kentucky's game in Gainesville on Saturday night, Florida Coach Billy Donovan said Thursday.

"You still have to execute and perform and do those things," Donovan said in shooting down the suggestion that experience makes the difference in winning close games. "And just because you did it last time doesn't mean you're going to do it (again)."

To prove his point, Donovan noted Kentucky's 35-3 powerhouse team of last season.
