Overview: The 21st pick hasn't produced many stars, but there have been a few Pro Bowlers who were chosen with the pick in the past 10 years. Overall, PFW has found that the No. 21 pick, which is held by the Chiefs this year, has a history of producing players who are solid contributors, though there have been some high-profile misses, too:
2010: Bengals select Oklahoma TE Jermaine Gresham
Gresham proved to be a viable target in the short passing game for the Bengals in his rookie year. He has above-average pass-catching skills and is expected to become a bigger factor next season.
2009: Browns select California C Alex Mack
Mack was named to the Pro Bowl in '10 and has been a vital part of the Browns' O-line since Day One. He hasn't missed a start in his two-year career and has no problem handling the bigger defensive tackles he's paired up against.
2008: Falcons select USC OT Sam Baker
While he hasn't wowed anybody with his skills, Baker has been a starter since his arrival in Atlanta. He has done a serviceable job as the team's left tackle, but he could be moved to the opposite side if the team were to acquire a better blind-side protector for QB Matt Ryan.
2007: Jaguars select Florida FS Reggie Nelson
After picking off five passes as a rookie, Nelson wasn't able to grow into being the playmaker the Jags thought they were getting when they drafted him. He has had trouble making tackles throughout his career and was traded to the Bengals prior to the '10 season.
2006: Patriots select Minnesota RB Laurence Maroney
Maroney was a serviceable back during his stint in New England, but he landed in Bill Belichick's dog house on more than one occasion and was traded to the Broncos early in the 2010 season. He was held to just 2.1 yards per carry in three starts with Denver before being benched. His future in the league is in question.
2005: Jaguars select Arkansas WR Matt Jones
After having a couple decent seasons for the Jags, Jones turned out to be a bust. The tall, talented converted quarterback lasted just four seasons in the league due to his struggles with off-the-field issues related to drug problems.
2004: Patriots select Miami (Fla.) DT Vince Wilfork
Wilfork anchors the Patriots' run defense. The three-time Pro Bowler showed his versatility last season, playing both inside at the NT position and spending time at end because of injuries. He has developed into a leader of the defense.
2003: Browns select Notre Dame C Jeff Faine
Now with his third NFL team (he also played with the Saints and now is with the Buccaneers), Faine has had a productive career. The athletic pivot was traded to the Saints in '06 and was named a Pro Bowl alternate one season later.
2002: Patriots select Colorado TE Daniel Graham
Graham filled his role well as a blocking tight end for the Pats in his five years with the team. After four seasons in Denver in a similar role, he was released by the Broncos in early March and reportedly will draw interest from several teams when free agency commences.
2001: Bills select Ohio State CB Nate Clements
Clements played well in Buffalo, recording at least two interceptions and 60 tackles in each of his six seasons there and earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2004. The 49ers made Clements the highest-paid defensive player in the league in '07 with an $80 million deal. He hasn't lived up to the contract.
