Letter warns draft picks of jeopardizing college teammates

Draft picks thinking of celebrating their selection to the pros with some college teammates should reconsider, according to a letter sent by NCAA director of player security services Dena Garner and forwarded by the NFL, according to The Associated Press.

Players who have not declared for the draft or are not eligible are barred from receiving free benefits or services at draft parties, including meals, the letter states, according to the AP. In the letter, according to the AP, Garner appealed to draft-eligible prospects, writing: "Please do not jeopardize the NCAA eligibility of your friends or former teammates."

The NFLPA has scheduled parties for draft picks April 28-30 in New York City. In the letter, according to the AP, Garner warns current collegiate players they are not allowed to take gifts provided by the NFL and other parties connected to the league, including agents and former teammates.
