The NFL finalized its 2011 preseason schedule on Tuesday, and it is set to begin on Sunday, Aug. 7 in Canton as the Bears face the Rams in the Hall of Fame Game.
There will be 11 nationally-televised games during the preseason, including the Super Bowl champion Packers playing the Colts in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium, the site of Super Bowl XLVI.
The 2011 regular-season schedule is expected to be released in the next week or two.
The date and times of the majoriy of games will be announced at a later time. All the games are dependent on the owners and players negotiating a new labor agreement, leaving the players locked out in the league's first work stoppage since 1987.
In response to the release of the preseason schedule, NFLPA spokesman George Atallah told the USA Today, "If the NFL lifts the lockout, they can ensure these games will actually be played. They hold the keys."
League spokesman Greg Aiello responded. "The NFLPA conveniently ignores the fact that it walked away from negotiations and filed a lawsuit that only delays the process of reaching an agreement," he said. "If the union commits to negotiating and resolving our differences, the fans will then have certainty that the season will begin without delay."
Games that are not on national TV will be broadcast locally.
