Players to meet Monday to discuss draft

The NFL players trade association, formerly the NFLPA, will meet on Monday to discuss their plans for handling the draft, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King.

The players are expected to hold an event separate from the NFL's regular draft on April 28 at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was previously reported that the players would have their own Draft Day event, with veterans shaking the hands of the incoming rookies that have been drafted to their teams. King said that the players would discuss that option, along with others, during the Monday meeting.

The NFL continues to invite top prospects to New York. Iowa DE Adrian Clayborn tweeted that he received an invitation over the weekend, but did not state whether or not he would attend.

The league is extending the invitations directly to the players, and not going through their agents, according to King.
