Clemson RB Harper declares for draft

Clemson RB Jamie Harper has elected to forgo his senior season and will enter the NFL draft. Harper's announcement comes just days after teammate Da'Quan Bowers announced he will turn pro.

"I want to thank all the coaches at Clemson," Harper said in a statement. "That includes Coach (Dabo) Swinney, Coach (Andre) Powell, my position coach, and Coach (Joey) Batson and his strength staff. They all helped prepare me for the next level."

Harper was the Tigers' leading rusher this past season, with 760 yards and seven touchdowns. He was also a threat out of the backfield, finishing second on the team in receptions and scoring 10 receiving touchdowns in 2010.

The way we see it

Harper is a big, bruising running back. He worked well at Clemson with Andre Ellington, and likely will be a complementary back at the next level. PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki projects Harper as a late-round pick.
